Souten movie download for free. Souten is a Bengali Movie based on the novel by Shaktipada Rajguru and directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta. It stars Soumitra Chatterjee and Supriya Devi in first lead roles and Utpal Dutt, Satyajit Ray, Sanjukta Panigrahi, Manju Dey as second lead roles. The movie was released on 4 December 1967 in an agency named United Film Distributors And Exhibitors (UFDE). It was awarded as Best Feature Film (Bengali) at 16th National Film Awards. The plot is adapted from the novel "Sagarbondi" by Snehapada Rajguru which is centered on the social stigmas against the woman. Gauri (Supriya Devi) and Pratap (Soumitra Chatterjee) are in love. Pratap's uncle wants him to get married to his daughter, Indrani (Sanjukta Panigrahi). Indrani refuses because of her age, but eventually she gives in to get married to Pratap. They get married with an understanding that he will come back after a few days of honeymoon with Gauri. Gauri comes back to see Pratap in with Indrani. After seeing Gauri, Pratap realizes his mistake. But Gauri is determined to stay with him. Their plan is foiled when the uncle finds the cheque that they used to pay for their marriage and finds out that Pratap has yet to pay it back. He tries to persuade Pratap, but he refuses. He eventually pays the money on his own. Soon after, Indrani's brother gets him to agree on their marriage again due to his weak health. Gauri is unable to bear her life with Indrani and leaves for Kolkata (Calcutta). She gives the housekeys of the house where they live to Pratap's uncle so that he can sell it if she doesn't come back. On her way back, she sees Pratap getting married with his new bride, Kiran (Utpal Dutt), who was brought by friends of Indrani. Gauri is heartbroken, but eventually accepts this reality. Pratap comes to Kolkata for Gauri, who leaves for England to save herself from the marriage. Pratap never married Kiran. He comes back to see Gauri. He brings her home and they live happily together until his uncle dies, where he inherits the house that Gauri left behind.
